The development of solid acid-based fuel cells was pioneered by Professor Sossina Haile’s Research Group in the Materials Science Department at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Through this work, important breakthroughs were made by Professor Haile’s graduate students, Calum Chisholm and Dane Boysen, and post-doctoral scholar Tetsuya Uda. These developments led these scientists to found Superprotonic on November 23, 2003, in Pasadena, California, in order to bring this truly revolutionary technology to the marketplace.
